For the first time ever, a paralyzed man can move his fingers and hand with his own thoughts thanks to an innovative partnership between The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and Battelle.

I need this T_T
WHAT THE FUCK WHY ISN’T THIS IN EVERY SINGLE NEWS SITE AND SHOW ON THE PLANET WE’RE LITERALLY CURING SPINAL PARALYSIS
» My therapist just told me a joke.
So this girl walks up to another girl and says “Hey, have you heard of the Bechdel Test?”
And the other girl says, “Yeah, my boyfriend was telling me about it the other day!”
I don’t get it?
I didn’t understand that reference at first so I looked it up and apparently there were fifty-seven academics who theorized that Shakespeare was gay/bisexual.
Also, sonnet 57 is supposed to be about a guy that Shakespeare was in love with.
The Doctor remarks at one point in this episode that a skull looks like that of a Sycorax. Shakespeare claims he’s using that word, as he likes it. There is a Shakespeare character called Sycorax. #researchpayskids
I always love it when this shows up on my dash.
hey remember when doctor who used to be awesome
What, and had deep plotlines where they actually discussed the moral outcomes of little things like genocide?
I’ve said something about this before, and here it is again.
The Doctor’s far from perfect, but also we have to remember that each reincarnation is different from one another (see the Valleyard, who is the later (MIGHT be) inevitable evil reincarnation of the Doctor). The 9th definitely did not see Jabe as one who just plainly fancied him because every life lost was valuable to him. He just came out of the war. The thoughts of him being the one who thought ended the lives of his people and the Daleks and the suffering that surrounded it are still fresh in his mind. Then he fell in love with Rose Tyler.
The 10th is different is subtle ways. Sure he still carries the same burdens as the 9th, but he’s got a support system to help him carry the weight. Losing Rose Tyler means losing that support system that he’s relied on for quite a while. Then right before he met Martha Jones, he was quite the dick. He became less remorseful and more towards his violent tendencies. Even after meeting Martha, his behavior wasn’t quite as pacified as before. Only when he fully became companions with Donna did he come back as his sort of repaired self. He was with his best friend, a person willing to stick with him for the rest of his life for adventure’s sake. Donna didn’t seem to be romantically attracted to the Doctor, and the Doctor was definitely not over Rose Tyler at the time. But that didn’t stop their incredible platonic relationship to be awesome as it was. Of course disaster struck Donna, and he was alone again. Only this time, he was full of pain. His brief time as “Time Lord Victorious” pretty much summed up his mental state at the time, and wow. It was not pretty. He was corrupted, and his pain got the best of him. This dark side of him briefly subsided, but unlike his time with Donna Noble, he was almost a complete different man. In addition to the losses he’s suffered, he’s also learned about his impending death (oh how fun is that). When he finally regenerated, he was full of sorrow, pain, and regret, hence the line “I don’t want to go.”
Then comes the 11th. Fresh out of regeneration, he appears to be the most childish of all his reincarnations, but underneath that childish demeanor, he is old and tired. As we’ve seen, unlike 9 and 10, he is more than willing to blow up a whole armada of Cybermen to get his best friend back. He’s not as much as the man of reason he used to be. He’s seen too many things and experienced too many terrible events that he sometimes doesn’t even realize the weight of his words/actions, or as we’ve seen here, he will scoff off bad things (AKA Deaths) as a joke to forget how painful they were. This does not excuse or justify his actions. I’m not even saying that he’s written as well as he should be. I’m just saying that the way he’s written makes sense at this point.
That’s just how I see it.
Sexism on tumblr. I know your hearts are in the right place but still, this is bad.
this is powerful
it’s because it’s the absolute other way around anywhere else. stop.
No, this needs to be seen. It’s not okay to demean another sex to defend your own. If you wanted to be treated as equal, then you treat others as equals as well. You can’t fight sexism by being sexist. You can’t fight hate by hating. It’s that simple.
Replace sexism with literally any other social justice issue and that is how you solve problems, respect and equal treatment for all people even if they do not show it to you…
This is gonna get out of control fast
We all change. When you think about it, we’re all different people all through our lives, and that’s okay, that’s good, you gotta keep moving, so long as you remember all the people that you used to be.
That statue honours the first metalbender, Toph Beifong, who expanded the possibilities of what benders were capable of.
Here, everyone is encouraged to reach his or her highest potential....❞

i reblogged this a million times and i still dont know what it’s funnier: the leg or the coach
the fact that the coach is her father makes this funnier
